Roseanna Bricknell

2010 - 2012

Competition and regulatory lawyer Roseanna Bricknell has built a career focused on ensuring that powerful institutions operate fairly and within the rule of law. She lived at John XXIII College from 2010 to 2012 while studying at the Australian National University, where she completed a Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) and Laws (Honours I). Her time at Johns was personally significant—she met her husband there and formed many of the friendships that remain central to her life.

Roseanna began her legal career as Associate to the Hon Justice David Yates in the Federal Court of Australia, gaining first-hand experience in complex commercial and regulatory litigation. She later joined the Australian Government Solicitor, where she worked as a Senior Lawyer specialising in competition law and civil regulation, advising Commonwealth regulators and conducting litigation of national significance. Her work has focused on ensuring companies comply with laws designed to protect consumers and maintain fair competition, particularly in sectors where large corporations hold significant power.

Roseanna later studied at the University of Oxford as a Ramsay Scholar, completing a Bachelor of Civil Law with Distinction. She now works as a Senior Adviser to the Commonwealth Attorney-General, continuing her focus on regulatory policy and the protection of individual rights. Her work reflects a strong commitment to ensuring that legal systems uphold fairness and accountability in an increasingly complex economy.
